Madonna and Lady Gaga have had somewhat of a feud for a while, with Madonna accusing Gaga of copying her and even playing a mash-up of her 1989 song "Express Yourself" with Gaga’s “Born This Way” during her current tour to prove it.
But during her show on Sunday in St. Paul, Minnesota, Madnona revealed that she had invited Gaga to join her for a duet, but she had declined.
"I have the best fans in the world. So take that, Lady Gaga! You know, I invited her onstage to sing with me. But she turned me down," Madonna told the crowd, MTV News reports. "It's OK. I've been rejected before. It builds a little character."
Earlier this year, Madonna did an interview with ABC News and talked about the comparisons between she and Lady Gaga.
She said, some of her songs are a “statement about taking something that was in the Zeitgeist, you know, 20 years ago and turning it inside out and reinterpreting it,”adding, “it felt reductive.”
She added “There’s a lot of ways to look at it. I can’t really be annoyed by it …because, obviously, I’ve influenced her.”
