Recent photos of Matthew McConaughey have shown that the actor has lost a shocking amount of weight just for his upcoming film, The Dallas Buyers Club, which centers on the true story of Ron Woodruff, an AIDS victim.
A source for People says that the Magic Mike actor is “at his absolute lowest weight” just before production started this weekend.
“In a month, he'll begin to put it back on,” the source added.
McConaughey began to lose 30 pounds this summer and was noticeably thinner while filming Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street in New York. He was then spotted with his family in Austin, Texas, heading to church. His mother was at his side, helping him walk.
More photos of the actor looking frail on set in New Orleans emerged this weekend, notes Celebrity-Gossip.net.
The film focuses on the life of Ron Woodruff, who managed to live for years after his AIDS diagnosis using drugs he smuggled into the US. The film also stars Jennifer Garner and will be Jared Leto’s first film since 2009.
“I should not look healthy by the time I'm doing this,” McConaughey told Larry King in July. “It takes a while for your body to understand that it has to feed off of itself and that you're not going to give it something else from the outside.”
