Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani are the latest winners of the mirror ball trophy. The team was crowned the champion of ABC’s dancing competition Dancing with the Stars: All Stars.
Rycroft, who also competed on ABC’s The Bachelor and is a former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, and Dovolani earned a perfect 60 score from the judges on Monday for their Samba. The dancing partners beat former Olympian Shawn Johnson, who scored a 57, and actress Kelly Monaco, who earned a 59.
USA Today notes that Monaco came in third place, with Johnson earning second place. “The journey was amazing,” Monaco said after the show. “This guy is the most incredible man and he's the most talented dancer out there. He taught somebody who has no idea how to stand on both of her feet and talk at the same time how to dance gracefully.”
Rycroft bust into tears as the winner was announced and Dovolani was actually bleeped by the ABC censors, notes the Washington Post.
After the show, Rycroft took to Twitter to thank her fans. “AAAHHHHHH!!!!! OH MY MERCY!!! You guys did it!!! You gave this to us!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! Ahhhhhh!!” she wrote.
The two-hour season finale featured the rest of the All Star contestants returning for one more shot to dance before the country. Some celebs danced to “Gangnam Style” and “Call Me Maybe.”
