Miley Cyrus has been granted a restraining order against the man who was arrested when he tried to enter her home with a pair of scissors in September.
As we previously reported, Jason Luis Rivera was arrested back on Sept. 8 trying to enter Cyrus’ Studio City home. He reportedly told police that he was just trying to meet the former Disney channel star, claiming that she was his “wife” and that they had been friends for years. Police found a pair of scissors on him.
Although he was sentenced to 18 months in jail last month, Cyrus decided to apply for a restraining order against Rivera. Superior Court Judge William D. Stewart granted the request on Friday, reports The Associated Press. Rivera will have to stay away from Cyrus for the next three years.
Due to jail overcrowding in California, Rivera is set to be released in May, reports TMZ.
Cyrus, 20, was not at today’s hearing and her attorney, Bryan Sullivan, did not comment on the judge’s decision.
Cyrus is engaged to Liam Hemsworth and is working on a new album, which she has promised will be very different from her previous albums.
