Recently, Michael Arndt was confirmed to penning Star Wars Episode VII, but the rest of the trilogy remains in question, unless the rumors are true and Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg are scripting Episode VIII and IX.
According to ComingSoon.net, Disney wants Kasdan and Kinberg to write the future sequels after the new trilogy takes off in 2015.
George Lucas apparently had ideas for the writers to work off of for the next series of films.
Deadline says that Kasdan actually helped work on the scripts for The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi back in 1980 and 1983 respectively. He also worked on the other major Lucasfilm property Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Kinberg is known for scripting X-men: Fist Class and Sherlock Holmes. He will also write X-men: Days of Future Past set for release in 2014.
Star Wars was recently put under the Disney umbrella when they bought out Lucasfilm and announced a whole new trilogy taking place after Return of the Jedi set for 2015.
