NBC orders four more ‘Guys With Kids’ episodes

By Daniel S Levine,

NBC has given Guys With Kids a limited back order, only ordering that four more episodes of the freshman multi-camera sitcom to be produced.

According to TV Line, the series will now have at least 17 episodes for its first season. The Jimmy Fallon-produced series’ last episode had 3.8 million viewers and just a 1.3 18-49 rating.

The series airs on Wednesdays at 8:30pm and had been paired with Animal Practice, until that show was cancelled last month after just four episodes. Guys With Kids’ ratings weren’t much better than that show’s, so many had predicted that it would not survive as well.

Other freshman shows that NBC has picked up for full seasons include Matthew Perry’s Go On, The New Normal, Revolution and Chicago Fire.

In other TV news, CBS has also made some moves today, notes Deadline. The network announced that its new Sherlock Holmes drama Elementary will get two more episodes, ensuring a 24-episode freshman season. The show was recently picked to air after this year’s Super Bowl.

CBS also cut Vegas’ first season by an episode.
