Nicki Minaj says she was 'egged on' by Mariah Carey, blasts Barbara Walters for not asking her side of the 'American Idol' fight

By Gina DiFalco,

Following the video footage of American Idol co-judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey arguing leaked online, many speculated that their fight was simply a ratings ploy and set up by producers.

But Minaj has a new reality show on E! called Nicki Minaj: My Truth, where she dishes about the feud.

Minaj said on the show that Carey simply didn’t want another woman on the judging panel with her, and that’s what started their fighting.

"She's admitted she did not want another female doing the show,” said Minaj, Entertainmentwise reports. "She didn't want someone stealing her shine. Twenty minutes before that happened, she egged me on. I just know that I had reached my boiling point.”

Minaj also said Carey was “nitpicking” at her, which led to her explaining “I stormed off the stage because I didn’t want to do that. I left and when I came back, it was another jab."

She said the blow-up fight that was caught on camera was a result of, "I had to make it clear that if you do this again, I'm going to do this again."

Furthermore, after the fight leaked, Barbara Walters released a statement from Carey on The View, and Minaj was offended that she wasn’t asked her side of the story.

"Am I not good enough for you to get my side because I’m a little black girl that raps? If I was JLo you would have called J-Lo's camp - so are we not good enough for you? I did not say I was a gangster, I would never say that,” she explained.

"Then I hear that Mariah went to Barbara Walters with more fabrications which even the producers said I never said. I've never in my life said anything regarding a gun."

At the end of the day, Minaj proclaims “I 'm happy that Mariah's on the panel. You got one of the best singers who ever sung on the world. But you have a problem with me being on there.”
