If anything is for certain, it’s that British boy band One Direction is on top of their game, as their album sales have reached a top spot on the Billboard Top 200 charts for the second time this year.
Entertainment Weekly reports that their sophomore album Take Me Home moved 540,000 units in its debut week, far more than the band’s 176,000 for the release of their first album, Up All Night, in March.
The new numbers earn the band the third largest debut week of this year, right next to Taylor Swift’s Red (1.2 million) and Mumford and Sons’ Babel (600,000).
According to the New York Times, Take Me Home also pushed Taylor Swift’s four-week top-of-the-chart run back down to second place.
That’s a huge feat for the young English-Irish blokes, including Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson.
And even though she’s been knocked off her throne, Ms. Swift is rumored to be dating Styles. So we’re sure she won’t mind too much.
