One Direction’s newest album has been out for just a couple of days, but it is already expected to have a huge first week on the Billboard 200 album chart.
According to Billboard, industry analysts believe that Take Me Home will debut with at least 500,000 copies sold. That would easily surpass the 176,000 copies Up All Night sold back in March. Up All Night still debuted at the top of the chart, making One Direction the first UK band to debut at the top of the US album chart.
Analysts predict that Take Me Home could sell 575,000 copies at the most by Sunday.
However, that would put them behind the two biggest debuts of the year. Taylor Swift’s Red sold 1.208 million copies in its first week. Mumford & Sons' Babel debuted with 600,000 copies sold, notes MTV News.
Billboard reveals the weekly charts on Wednesdays, so be sure to check back here for updates.
Other major releases this week that will be competing with Take Me Home are Green Day’s Dos!, Christina Aguilera's Lotus, Lana Del Rey’s Paradise and Weekend’s Trilogy. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 soundtrack is also out this week, ahead of the film’s release on Friday.
One Direction’s Up All Night has already sold 1.32 million copies and Take Me Home stands a chance to do just as well, especially with the holiday season around the corner.
