According to EW, Spurlock calls landing the job to direct the 3-D concert film “an incredible opportunity and an amazing moment in time for the band.”
He also said in a press release “To capture this journey and share it with audiences around the world will be an epic undertaking that I am proud to be a part of.”
X Factor creator Simon Cowell, who is responsible for putting the best-selling group together, also said in a statement “I’m delighted we’re making this film and Morgan is the perfect person to give that access-all-areas, behind-the-scenes look into what it’s like to be One Direction today. What the band have achieved is incredible, they and their fans have made history around the world — this is for them.”
Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson make up the band One Direction, Billboard reports. They just released their second album called Take Me Home.
Their first, Up All Night is the first U.K. act to make the Billboard 200 as No. 1. It has sold 1.33 million copies in the U.S. alone.
