Seth MacFarlane will be hosting the Oscars this year, and he surprised a class at UCLA to announce that a lucky student from anywhere across the country could win a trip to be there in person.
The Family Guy creator held a Q&A session with the film students on Wednesday, where he not only revealed someone could win a trip to be at the Academy Awards but that he had plans for a movie based on his popular cartoon show.
EW reports that the whole thing was filmed for MTVu’s Stand-In series.
“Basically, they’re looking for students who are interested in pursuing careers in the film industry,” MacFarlane told the students. “You enter this search, you win a trip to L.A.”
He added in response to some laughs, “And you get to go up onstage and help me hand out some Oscars.”
In a statement, Oscar producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, said, “We wanted everyone appearing on that stage to feel a deep commitment to film and its legacy and, most importantly, its future.”
Applicants need to make a 30-second video answering the question “How will you contribute to the future of movies?”
Furthermore, when answering questions, MacFarlane revealed that a Family Guy movie is very likely, “It’s just a matter of when.”
