It’s become an annual event now. Paramount has scheduled a fifth film in its low-budget horror franchise Paranormal Activity.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paranormal Activity 5 will be released on Oct. 25, 2013. Jason Blum will produce again.
The Paranormal Activity franchise started in 2007. Each film is made in the found-footage style and the fourth film cost just $5 million to make.
Paranormal Activity 4 debuted to $30.2 million, a significant decline from the $54 million opening PA 3 had, notes The Huffington Post. The fourth film went on to gross just $53.4 million during its entire domestic run. However, it was a success overseas and finished with a global total of $134.4 million.
In total, the franchise has made $700 million worldwide.
Last month, Deadline reported that a fifth film was in the works and that an untitled spin-off targeted towards the Latino audience is planned for Spring 2013.
“This will be an off-shoot aimed at the groups who have been the biggest supporters of the property — Latinos and folks in Latin America — Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina,” a Paramount insider told Deadline at the time.
