At the 40th Anniversary American Music Awards on Sunday, big names such as Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera and more sang their hearts out, but there was one performer who stole the show.
P!nk never disappoints when she performs live, and her performance of her new single “Try” was no exception. The 33-year-old recreated her latest music video on stage, and according to Digital Spy, P!nk considers it her “favorite video ever.”
It features the singer in an artistic, well-choreographed fight with a male actor. Not that anyone ever doubted her, but when she performed it live on the AMA stage, P!nk proved her talents aren’t an illusion the camera creates. The powerhouse singer did what most artists can’t and performed complicated choreography while also singing live. She did it gracefully.
The performance earned a standing ovation from the A-list crowd, as well as much praise from her husband, Carey Hart who attended the awards with her.
“Wifey @pink killed the #AMAs tonight. So proud of her,” he wrote.
P!nk, who usually draws inspiration for new songs from her relationship with Hart, responded, “Awww I love you. I like you too. Which is even cooler.”
This isn’t the first performance where the multi-talented star wowed the crowd. At the 2010 Grammy Awards, she had jaws dropping as she performed “Glitter in the Air” live all while performing acrobatics above the stage.
