Pink was once a hard-partying teen with an “I don’t care” edgy attitude. Since becoming a mother in 2011, the 33-year-old admits she has lost some of her edge.
In an updated Behind the Music special, which aired Tuesday on VH1, the “Try” singer talked about how motherhood has changed her.
Pink explained how telling her husband, Carey Hart, she was pregnant was a day she won’t forget, mostly because it didn’t go as planned.
"I had this vision in my head that it would be this moment and I would pee on the stick and the line would appear and I'd come up with this super romantic way of telling Carey [Hart] about it," Pink said, according to MTV News. "It was so typical me. The line was so faint that I wasn't sure, I threw it at Carey and said, 'What does it say?' He looked at it and he said, 'You're knocked up.' "
Carey, though, didn’t care if her way of telling him wasn’t romantic, he was “just happy to hear the words.”
When their daughter Willow arrived in June of 2011, Carey said “life changed” and so did Pink.
"When all the fuss goes away and the nurses leave you alone and I've got my beautiful little bambina in my arms, swaddled in a blanket, it's incredible, it's amazing," Pink said, adding she's not who she used to be. "I've softened, and I think it's perfect. It's what I needed. I was hoping for a little edge loss,” she added with a laugh.
According to her husband, the change was like a “light switch.” Now, though, she’s very protective.
“The mama-bear nails have been sharpened,” he said.
