Rider Strong on ‘Boy Meets World’ spin-off: ‘I have no official involvement’

By Daniel S Levine,

Not every Boy Meets World cast member will be back for Girl Meets World. Although Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel will be back, Rider Strong wrote on his website that he is not involved at the moment.

In a post titled “Rider on ‘Girl Meets World,’” the actor wrote about the universal appeal of Boy Meets World and how great the show has been for him since it ended back in 2000.

Boy Meets World was a defining aspect of my life, and I cherish those seven years,” Strong wrote. “It was never just a job — on a personal level, many of my best memories and friendships were formed because of it.”

So, while he is “extremely happy” to see that Girl Meets World is in development, he has “no official involvement” at this point.

“There might be a chance to see some of the BMW cast in a guest spot, and I think it would be nice to find out where our characters have been all these years,” he continued. “But Girl Meets World will be, and I think it should be, it’s own show. It will be about Cory and Topanga, their daughter, and a new set of characters.”

He concluded, “It’s the next generation. And I, for one, can’t wait to see it evolve.”

News that Girl Meets World was put in development by Disney broke earlier this month and Savage and Fishel joined last week.

Strong played Cory Matthews’ (Savage) friend Shawn on the series during its entire run.
