Rider Strong states he has not been invited to join cast of 'Girl Meets World; but isn't opposed to it

While the Boy Meets World Disney spinoff, Girl Meets World is fast underway, there is one person noticeably absent from the cast: Shawn.

According to TMZ, Rider Strong, who played Ben Savage’s (Cory Matthews) best friend Shawn on the hit TGIF show, has not been asked to join the spinoff…yet.

"At this point, I have no official involvement,” states Strong in a newly released statement.

"There might be a chance to see some of the BMW cast in a guest spot, and I think it would be nice to find out where our characters have been all these years. But Girl Meets World will be, and I think it should be, it’ own show,” the statement continues.

Concluding he notes, "It will be about Cory and Topanga, their daughter, and a new set of characters ... And I, for one, can’t wait to see it evolve."

Thus far, the Disney spinoff has been given a green light and Corey and Topanga, Daniel Fishel, have confirmed their involvement in the show with great enthusiasm.
