Rosemarie DeWitt and Patton Oswalt are joining the cast of HBO’s The Newsroom as recurring characters for the upcoming second season, the network announced Friday.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, DeWitt will be playing litigator Rebecca Halliday. She will be defending Atlantis (the network) in a wrongful-termination suit. Oswalt will portray Jonas Pfeiffer, the vice president of Human Resources at Atlantic Cable News.
The show offers a reunion for DeWitt and Oswalt. They played a couple on Showtime’s United States of Tara.
Hypable reports guest stars Adam Arkin and David Krumholtz from season 1 will return to the show.
The show looks at what really happens in the newsroom. Jeff Daniels stars as news anchor Will McAvoy.
Daniels tweeted about The Newsroom to his fans on Wednesday about returning to work on the new season, via his Twitter page:

The first episode of season 2 (spoilers follow) will have Will and the news staff reporting on Occupy Wall Street, which means the show will be set around September 2011, according to Zap2It. The show will refer back to the Occupy movement for the beginning part of the season.
Hypable reports season 2 will premiere in June 2013.
