The CW made some moves today, announcing the premiere of the anticipated Sex and the City prequel series, The Carrie Diaries, which stars AnnaSophia Robb as Carrie Bradshaw.
According to Entertainment Weekly, The Carrie Diaries will premiere on Monday, Jan. 14 at 8pm. The network’s 90210 reboot will air after it at 9pm.
Deadline reports that The CW will make a big marketing push to ensure that The Carrie Diaries is as big a breakout hit as Arrow, which has already been picked up for a full season. As The Carrie Diaries will take Gossip Girl’s old slot, a sneak peak will air during that show’s two-hour series finale on Dec. 17.
Robb recently spoke about Carrie’s life during the series in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter. “She’s experiencing a different phase in her life,” she said. “This is Carrie first experiencing the city and her love life and Manhattan and her family.”
That’s not the only move the CW has made recently. THR notes that Nikita will take over America’s Next Top Model’s Friday 8pm slot starting Nov. 30.
The CW has yet to announce if Beauty and the Beast and Emily Owens M.D. will get full season pickups.
