Former 90210 actress Shannen Doherty may have helped save the life of a possibly suicidal fan who threatened to kill herself unless the actress call her personally.
The Westampton Township Police Department in New Jersey told TMZ that Doherty called them from her home in Los Angeles to alert them Sunday to a fan who was sending her odd tweets. The fan said that she would kill herself unless Doherty called her.
Doherty exchanged messages with the fan, getting her to reveal her address, which she gave to police. She also feared that the fan had possession of a weapon.
Police arrived at the 27-year-old’s home and she insisted that she was not really planning on hurting herself. They also found nothing in her room that she could use to hurt herself. The woman also declined medical help and police determined that she was safe with her family.
Doherty took to Twitter to thank the police. “Thank you to the Westampton police department for being diligent and so reassuring,” she wrote.
She later added, “Thanks gang. Police wasn't for me, was a girl on here who needed their help.”

The actress, who also appeared on Charmed, was recently rumored to be one of NBC’s choices to replace Sharon Osbourne as a judge on America’s Got Talent.
