The Simpsons will air an episode that was written by famed writer/director Judd Apatow, which was written 22 years ago.

Back in 1989, the script was submitted by Apatow when the show was in the first season. But for whatever reason, it didn’t make the cut.

According to NME, he went on to have successful shows Freaks And Geeks and Undeclared and films like Knocked Up and The 40-Year Old Virgin.

On Conan O’Brien’s internet show, Serious Jibber Jabber, he revealed “I got a call from The Simpsons saying 'We're going to shoot that episode next year'," adding, "Now I can retire!"

It is reportedly “the first” thing that Apatow ever wrote.

The episode is reportedly about Homer Simpson believing he’s 10 years old after undergoing hypnosis.

There are over 500 episodes of The Simpsons and the show is currently in its 24th season. It has aired every season since 1989.

Its newest season has guests such as Justin Bieber, Zooey Deschanel, Danny DeVito,Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein.
