Stephenie Meyer, ‘Twilight’ cast reveal future for the franchise

By Mallory Hatten,

On November 16, the Twilight saga will come to an end, as the fourth installment, Breaking Dawn: Part 2, hits theaters. But what does that mean for the future of Edward, Bella and the other characters we’ve come to love? Author Stephenie Meyer reveals her plan for the story line, as the films’ stars offer their input.

ABC News reports that Meyer answered the questions on everyone’s mind during a press junket on Thursday in Beverly Hills.

“I had planned out where it would go for a couple more books, so I know exactly what would happen,” Meyer shared. “There are other characters that I think would have a lot of voice in those coming stories.” But the author admits it would be “difficult” to continue on with the story line - now that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, among the other actors, have given a life of their own to the characters.

“Maybe someday I’ll write it out, just for myself. We’ll see. I’m not into permanents so I wouldn’t say no, absolutely,” Meyer added. “I’m not going to do it today. I don’t know how I’m going to feel in five years.”

But according to E! News, many of the franchise’s stars have an idea of what they’d like to happen with their characters.

Elizabeth Reaser, who plays Esme, said, “I think she [Esme] would really like for everything to just calm down a little bit and not have to deal with the Volturi for a while. Maybe go to our island with Dr. Cullen, take a little break to the island and let the kids run free for a while.”

Kellan Lutz revealed that he wants his character, Emmett, to have some quality time with on-screen love interest, Rosalie, played by Nikki Reed. “Well, [we] should go to our cabin and, you know. They allude to that a lot and you never see it. And maybe we’ll adopt! Renesmee needs a friend.”
