Tom Cruise shuts down London’s Trafalgar Square to film ‘All You Need Is Kill’

By Daniel S Levine,

Tom Cruise is already working on his latest project, All You Need Is Kill, which won’t be released until 2014. The production shut down London’s busy Trafalgar Square over the weekend, as filming began.

The Telegraph reports that Cruise was flown into the area on a helicopter and was spotted wearing a military uniform when he came out. Military tanks and extras wearing camouflage and khaki ponchos were also seen in the area.

The usually busy area of the city was closed off to the public during filming.

All You Need Is Kill was first scheduled for release on March 14, 2014, but Warner Bros. later moved it up a week. The sci-fi film will now be out on March 7, 2014.

The film is directed by The Bourne Identity’s Doug Liman and co-stars Emily Blunt and Bill Paxton. In All You Need Is Kill, Cruise plays the inexperienced Lt. Col. Bill Cage, who is assigned to a suicide mission to stop aliens from taking over. Cage is killed, but is stuck in a time loop, reawakening at the moment he was assigned the mission. Blunt stars as Rita Vrataski, an experienced alien fighter. It is based on Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s book of the same name.

Cruise will next be seen in Jack Reacher, which opens on Dec. 21. Another sci-fi film, Oblivion, opens on April 19, 2013.

Before Cruise arrived in London, he spent Thanksgiving with his daughter Suri. The two hadn’t seen each other in three months.
