Cloud Atlas actor Tom Hanks has been scammed by his insurance agent Jerry B. Goldman.
TMZ reports that Goldman scammed Hanks as well as Andy Summers and two other wealthy clients out of roughly $800,000 over the last 13 years.
Goldman would quote his clients a price to insure their valuables, which included everything from cars to fine arts. He would hike up the quote and then pocket the remainder of the funds.
The Southern California insurance agent would even send faux statements to his clients which showed the policy overpayment by nearly 600 percent.
According to TMZ, Goldman has been charged with 10 counts of mail fraud and faces up to 20 years on each count.
Hanks recently starred in Cloud Atlas in which he costarred with Halle Berry. He has since begun working on Saving Mr. Banks, In the Garden of Beasts, and is rumored to take on the fourth installment in Pixar’s Toy Story series.
The Forrest Gump actor has not commented on the scamming case.
