NBC’s Whitney kicked off its second season in the slot once occupied by the now-cancelled Animal Practice and the news isn’t that encouraging. The show drew numbers similar to Animal Practice. As for winners, Fox and CBS came out on top.
CBS drew the most viewers, pulling in 10.97 million. Its 2.7 average 18-49 rating put it just behind Fox, reports HitFix. Survivor started the night with just under 10 million viewers and a 2.6 18-49 rating, while Criminal Minds had 12.13 million viewers and a 3.0 rating. CSI finished off the CBS sweep in viewers with 10.8 million and a 2.4 18-49 rating.
Fox edged ABC in viewers with 8.09 million and came out on top in the key demo with a 2.9 rating for The X Factor. That was a 12 percent jump in the demo for the show, which didn’t have to go against The Voice this week, notes Entertainment Weekly.
ABC found itself in third, despite another strong Modern Family episode. The network averaged 7.73 million viewers and a 2.5 18-49 rating. The Middle scored 8.74 million viewers and a 2.5 key demo rating, while Neighbors had 6.74 million and a 1.9. Modern Family was the top-rated show of the night with a 4.6 18-49 rating and 11.9 million viewers, staying steady with last week. Suburgatory had 7.22 million viewers and a 2.4 18-49 rating, while Nashville had 5.72 million viewers and a 1.6. That’s a 10 percent drop, despite the fact that the show has been picked up for a full season.
NBC was in fourth with just 5.16 million viewers and a 1.5 18-49 rating. Whitney had 4.23 million viewers and a 1.4 18-49 rating. According to The Hollywood Reporter, that was about the same as Animal Practice’s premiere and set a new low for Whitney. Guys With Kids had 3.8 million viewers and a 1.3 18-49 rating, while Law & Order: SVU had 5.7 million and a 1.6. Chicago Fire plunged to 5.7 million viewers and a 1.6 rating after last week’s Voice-boosted episode.
The CW’s Arrow had 3.8 million viewers, but just a 1.2 18-49 rating. Supernatural had 2.3 million viewers and a 1.0 18-49 rating.
