The X-Factor had their first live show of the season and the reviews for the episode are in.
Khloe Kardashian and Mario Lopez debuted as the co-hosts of the live show and came out ready for the night. The LA Times said, “Kardashian displayed some rookie nerves but also showed signs that she’ll prove interesting to watch.”
Lopez, on the other hand, had a much smoother time than Kardashian throughout the night. The LA Times said, “Lopez, the more experienced host became mildly flustered only once, when contestant Jason Brock inquired on camera if he could pinch the “Saved By the Bell” star’s butt.”
Another talk of the night were how new judges, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato would do in the heat of the live shows. The LA Times also reports that, “Britney Spears and Demi Lovato transitioned seamlessly to the live shows.”
MTV.com reports that Shirley Halperin, a music editor for the Hollywood Reporter said, “Demi impressed me and I thought she was really sassy in a relatable way.”
When talking about Britney however, Halperin said, “It wasn’t a big train wreck by any means, but she didn’t really say much. You could easily count the total numbers of words she said, which was around 50 and she’s getting paid $15 million!”
The production value for the show has gone up as the live shows give the contestant’s performances a whole new life. The singing was phenomenal, but some contestants fell short of expectations. Overall, the top 16 really left it all on the stage last night for their first live debut.
The show did fairly well in the ratings as MTV.com reports the show scored a total of 7.4 million viewers.
The live shows continue tonight at 8:00pm on Fox.
