A young girl from Georgia suffered minor injuries when she was bitten by a dolphin at SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida.
Jillian Thomas, 8, from Alpharetta, Georgia held up a carton of fish in plain sight of the dolphin, something SeaWorld employees urge guests not to do, and the dolphin was caught on tape biting her fingers.
ABC News reports that Jillian’s father, Jamie Thomas, posted the incident on YouTube.
“The first thing I thought was I would have to jump in the water and save my daughter's life," her father said, The Orlando Sentinel reports. "I literally thought she was going to be pulled into the water."
Although Jillian has three small wounds that are healing, Jamie says he and the young girl’s mother are upset with SeaWorld employees for trivializing the bite.
"Nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of our guests, employees and animals," SeaWorld said in a statement. "Educators and animal care staff were at the attraction when this happened and immediately connected with the family."
The Thomas’ will not sue SeaWorld, they instead want other families to learn from Jillian’s bite.
