Anderson Cooper was on assignment in Portugal when he was temporarily blinded as a result of sunlight reflecting off water when he was filming 60 Minutes.
Cooper explained what happened on his talk show Anderson Live, saying he was on the water for “two hours” filming.
After they wrapped, “I wake up in the middle of the night and it feels like my eyes are on fire, my eyeballs and I think, oh maybe I have sand in my eyes or something. I douse my eyes with water. Anyway, it turns out I have sunburned my eyeballs and I go blind. I went blind for 36 hours,” The Huffington Post reports.
On Tuesday morning, Cooper posted an Instagram picture of himself with an eye patch on.
He also tweeted “Temporarily blinded last week while on assignment. UV light bouncing off water. Much better now. Details today on #andersonlive.”
On the show, he showed the audience his photo with the eye patch and joked "That's my new Match.com profile picture, by the way."
