Australian 2DayFM radio hosts, Mel Greig and Michael Christian, have received bodyguards due to death threats. It's also being reported that they've been moved to a safe-house for protection.
Police are launching an investigation regarding the death threats made against the two DJs. The threats come as result of nurse Jacintha Saldanha’s death, which many believe was the two radio hosts’ fault. Since Saldanha's death, 2Day FM's Facebook page has seen many angry messages. The messages criticize the DJs and the station for making the prank call.
According to Herald Sun, Greig and Christian are not the only ones being targeted. The whole Southern Cross Austereo staff has received threats and there has been a security lock-down. The staff has been forced to move to hotels and executives have even been assigned personal protection.
HITC Politics reported that a spokesperson for the radio station said: "The safety of our employees is an absolute priority. We have sensible measures in place, as we always do, to ensure our people are safe. This is now a matter for the police and we trust they will investigate any specific threats that emerge."
According to The Inquisitr, the DJs have actually received numerous death threats, most directed at Christian. One letter to Christian states the following: “bullets out there with your name on it,” threatening the radio host with a shotgun attack.
The Telegraph reported that the letter was accidentally sent to a journalist at News Limited, but the content of the letter was too inappropriate to even print.
