Barbara Walters has unveiled her Most Fascinating Person of 2012 and it’s General David Patraeus.
After debuting her interviews with each pick - Fifty Shades of Grey author E.L. James, Ben Affleck, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, One Direction and Seth MacFarlane - as well as featuring but not interviewing Prince Harry and Honey Boo Boo, Walters explained her reasoning behind choosing Patraeus.
"We argued for months," she said of the decision to choose him, the same person she chose in 2010.
"David Petraeus was not chosen this year for his war record or his exemplary service to his country," she explained, USA Today reports. "This is about military honor, colliding with sex and lies in the digital age."
In November, Patraeus stepped down as the head of the CIA after it was discovered he was having an affair with Paula Broadwell, his biographer.
E! Online reports that their emails came to light when Broadwell asked another woman to leave him be, also via email, and the affair was then out of the can.
