Ben Affleck drops out of Warner Bros. movie ‘Focus’

By Daniel S Levine,

Kristen Stewart is going to be disappointed. She will not get to work with Ben Affleck on Warner Bros.’ Focus after all. Multiple reports confirm that the Argo director/star has dropped out of the project.

Affleck signed on to star in the film in October. Just last week, Stewart excitedly confirmed that she will get to work with him.

But Variety and E! News both confirmed today that Affleck has dropped out of Focus and the studio will have to find a new leading man.

Crazy Stupid Love directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa are writing and directing the film.

According to Variety, Affleck’s busy schedule has prevented him from acting in the film. He’s currently working on his next directorial effort, Live by Night, which he is also writing and starring in. He also has The Stand and a Whitey Bulger project in the works.

In between Oscar campaigning for Argo, Affleck was in Washington, D.C. today to testify before Congress about the dire humanitarian crisis in the Congo, reports The Associated Press. He has been actively campaigning to help stop the violence. He told Congress that if the U.S. doesn’t play a bigger role in the region, the crisis will continue.
