The hit series on Fox recently re-casted the character of Dr. Brennan’s deceased mother Christine Brennan. Melrose Place actress Brooke Langton has replaced Larisa Miller as Temperance Brennan’s mother.
Back in season two Miller played the mother of the world’s best forensic anthropologist in a flashback sequence. Executive producer Stephen Nathan explained to TV Guide that Langton will have the opportunity of playing the mother when Brennan endures a near-death experience.
Nathan says, “This near-death experience was a way for us to reintroduce [Brennan's] mother in a very personal way. We get to see her mom and her relationship with her mother. What happened on the day her mother left? What was that last moment like for her and how has that affected her and made her who she is today?"
He goes on to explain Brennan’s skepticism to the entire experience. "Whether she believes that [this experience] actually occurred or whether it was a chemical release in the brain that caused her to hallucinate, she has to deal with that.”
Creator Hart Hanson adds, "There is one thing [Brennan] can't explain. She learns something in the after-death experience that she can't explain and that is troubling for her."
TVLine reports that Langton was part of the original Melrose Place and has also acted on other television shows such as Life, Weeds and Friday Night Lights.
There is no scheduled date for when Langton’s appearance will air.
