The list of nominees for the annual Annie Awards, which honors the best in animation, is out. Disney had an incredibly strong year, with Brave and Wreck-It Ralph tying with Dreamworks Animation’s Rise of the Guardians for most nominations.

According to The Wrap, the three films earned 10 nominations with Laik and Focus’ ParaNorman and Sony’s Hotel Transylvania earning eight nods. Disney and Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie and The Pirates! Band of Misfits had five each. All of those films were also nominated in the Best Animated Feature category.

“I am very excited about this year’s slate of nominees!” AIFA-Hollywood president Frank Gladstone said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. He noted that there were more submissions this year than in any previous year.

The selections showcase “the huge variety of venues, creativity, technical innovation, and story-telling that our art form has to offer," he added.

The 40th annual Annie Awards will be held on Feb. 2, 2013 at UCLA Royce Hall.
