It has been confirmed by Buckingham Palace that Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting her first child with Prince William.
The news comes as The Associated Press tweeted “BREAKING: Palace says Prince William, Duchess of Cambridge expecting a baby,” and following many rumors that the 30-year-old was pregnant in recent weeks.
The pregnancy announcement comes over a year after the royal couple married in May 2011, and the baby will be Queen Elizabeth II's third great-grandchild, The Huffington Post reports.
According to The Daily Mail, the Duchess has been experiencing morning sickness and was taken to King Edward VII Hospital in London.
On their website, they announce “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby.The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry and members of both families are delighted with the news.”
They added, “The Duchess was admitted this afternoon to King Edward VII Hospital in Central London with Hyperemesis Gravidarum. As the pregnancy is in its very early stages, Her Royal Highness is expected to stay in hospital for several days and will require a period of rest thereafter.”
The baby will be third in line to the throne.
