Brooke Mueller, the ex-wife of Charlie Sheen, is fighting reports that she was hospitalized after overdosing on drugs. Her rep admits that she was rushed to the hospital, but says there was nothing illegal in her system.
TMZ reported that Mueller was taken to the hospital at 11:42 a.m. Friday and sources told the site that she had been using drugs for the past few weeks. People close to her are “deeply concerned,” they said.
That report was quickly followed by a statement to E! News from her attorney, Allie Gordon Weinstein. “It is confirmed there were no illegal drugs in Brooke's system, and she is at home right now with her kids,” Weinstein said. “Brooke did not overdose.”
Her rep, Steve Honig, also issued a statement to E! that explained what happened.
“An assistant thought Brooke was non-responsive while she was napping and hastily called an ambulance,” Honig said. “As a precaution, Brooke was brought to a local hospital and discharged after an hour. She was diagnosed with exhaustion and dehydration and is now fine and resting at home. That's it.”
“I am going back to the hospital to get the test results that will prove that I wasn't on drugs,” Mueller told Radar Online.
Despite the reports to the contrary, TMZ’s sources still say that her family has been concerned about her recent drug use.
“She's been in a good place,” a friend told E!. “She hasn't seemed depressed or low at all. She's excited about the future, spending time with her children and just wants to get on with her life peacefully.”
Mueller has a history of drug problems, having been in and out of rehab.
