Bruno Mars fails to steal top Billboard spot from Taylor Swift

By Ryan Roschke,

Taylor Swift's newest musical endeavor, Red, has taken the top spot in the Billboard 200 for a fifth non-consecutive week. Swift has been in competition with Bruno Mars, whose new album, Unorthodox Jukebox, hit the music scene at the beginning of the week. Swift and Mars sold 208,000 and 192,000 copies respectively, taking the No. 1 and No. 2 spots.

The charts at Billboard.com haven't yet featured Unorthodox Jukebox in their album ranks yet, although Taylor Swift is plastered up pretty much everywhere.

The results report came from Yahoo!. Contrarily, Bruno Mars's single, "Locked Out of Heaven," is holding steady at the top of the Hot 100, which means album sales could improve in the coming weeks. Mars recently admitted that his hit single was inspired by Oscar winner Halle Berry.

Meanwhile, Swift has recently been in the limelight for her new blossoming relationship with One Direction band member, Harry Styles. Sources joke that Swift will get another record deal out of the break-up, while the other One Direction band members seem pretty irritated. Either way, according to MTV.com, the new tattoo Styles got to show his love for Swift is a sign of everlasting love.

Both Mars and Swift have also received Grammy nominations in different categories. Are the results going to be a mirror reflection of the artists' popularity on Billboard?
