Carly Rae Jepsen’s summer hit, “Call Me Maybe” was stuck in the mind of almost everyone who came across the catchy track. Now, the Canadian singer has won the award for MTV’s ‘Best Song of 2012,’ and she couldn’t be happier.
She gushed to MTV, "First of all, wow, thank you so much! I have to thank the two other writers of 'Call Me Maybe,' Josh Ramsay and Tavish Crowe. When we worked on the song together, we were not expecting this year to turn out to be the crazy adventure that it is. Thank you to the fans, my team, my family and MTV — thanks to you!"
The 27-year-old starlet also took to Twitter to express her excitement over “Call Me Maybe” success. “What an incredible year it's been! MTV has just named Call Me Maybe -Song of the Year! Huge thanks to MTV and all of my fans!” she tweeted Tuesday.
Jepsen, who was first discovered by Justin Bieber, has since dominated the Billboard Hot 100 and has since been nominated for two Grammys while her mentor has since been snubbed by the iconic award.
