After struggling with a hoarse voice at her Des Moines, Iowa concert on Friday, Carrie Underwood decided to give the proceeds back to the community.
According to the Huffington Post, despite not feeling her best, Underwood tried to make it through the Blown Away Tour date at the Iowa Events Center. But after 90 minutes of her set, she became so disappointed with her vocal performance that she surprised fans with an announcement.
“I feel real guilty about making any money on this show tonight,” Underwood said, “so whatever I’m making is just going to go right back into this community. I feel that’s the right thing to do.”
Yahoo! reports that this is just one in a long list of Underwood’s kind gestures. She donated proceeds from her Atlantic City show to Hurricane Sandy relief, promised to give $1 of each ticket sold on her 2012 Blown Away Tour to the American Red Cross, and granted $350 thousand to her Oklahoma hometown’s public school district.
