Can 2012 get any better for Channing Tatum? He had three box office hits, was named the Sexiest Man Alive and now he and his wife, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, have announced that they are expecting their first child.
Tatum, 32, and Dewan-Tatum, 32, broke the great news to People magazine today. The couple’s rep told the magazine that they “are pleased to announce that they are expecting the birth of their first child next year.”
“I’m ready; I think she’s ready,” Tatum told People in a recent interview when asked if the couple is ready for children. “The first number that pops into my head is three, but I just want one to be healthy and then we’ll see where we go after that.”
"It was a total surprise," an insider told Us Weekly.
The news comes a few weeks after Tatum told Entertainment Weekly that he plans to slow down in 2013 after a busy 2012. He said that he and his Magic Mike co-writer, Reid Carolin, are working on a project that they will also direct.
Before that, though, Tatum will be starring in Foxcatcher, Side Effects, White House Down and an Evel Knievel biopic. He’s also starring in G.I. Joe: Retaliation, which comes out in March.
Dewan-Tatum is a former dancer who recently turned to acting. She and Tatum co-starred in Step Up and she recently appeared in FX’s American Horror Story. The couple married in 2009.
