James Franco’s shoes have officially been filled for the sequel to The Amazing Spider-man as Dane DeHaan has been cast as Harry Osborn.
According to ComingSoon.net, the Chronicle star will join the cast for The Amazing Spider-man 2.
Director Marc Webb confirmed the news on his Twitter account when he tweeted “Meet Harry Osborn” and a picture of DeHaan.
Franco played the character three times in Sam Raimi’s Spider-man trilogy.
The role of his father, Norman Osborn, a.k.a. the Green Goblin, Spider-man’s arch nemesis, has not been confirmed to appear in the sequel, despite being referenced numerous times in the reboot from this past summer.
DeHaan also appeared in this year’s Lawless.
He will accompany newcomers Shailene Woodley, as Mary Jane Watson, and Jamie Foxx, as the villain Electro, in the sequel.
Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone will return as Spider-man and Gwen Stacy respectively.
The Amazing Spider-man 2 is expected to hit theaters May 2, 2014 with production starting in early 2013.
