Rapper Fat Joe has pleaded guilty to tax evasion charges.

The rapper, who has such hits as “What’s Luv?” on his impressive music resume, reportedly failed to pay the federal government $700,000 in taxes from the years 2007 and 2008.

According to TMZ, Fat Joe, born Joseph Cartagena, 42, appeared in court himself in New Jersey to enter the guilty plea. The judge then let him go on a $250,000 bond.

Cartagena faces two years behind bars for the crime and he’s set to be sentenced in April.

The AP’s report actually says Cartagena owes $1 million in back taxes. He’s a Miami, Florida resident, but he showed up in a New Jersey courtroom because he earns a lot of his income through companies that are based in New Jersey.

Fat Joe has had a lot hit singles in his career, the AP reports. His last album, The Darkside Vol. 1, was released in 2010. Some of the hit singles he's known for include "Make It Rain" and "Lean Back" with Terror Squad.
