Frank Ocean’s song will not be in Quentin Tarantino’s 'Django Unchained'

By Drew Barile,

Frank Ocean created a song for Quentin Tarantino’s new film Django Unchained. However, the song will not make it to film or soundtrack. Despite Frank Ocean’s GQ profile and his 2012 Best Album, he still is not making the cut. Tarantino explained the absence of the track briefly.

Tarantino released a statement expressing his lament over the song’s absence, however, to include it without a proper context would sully the Ocean’s hard work. Moreover, including it even briefly would not have been parallel with Ocean’s intent for the song.

Tarantino’s statement to Fuse reads as such:

"Frank Ocean wrote a fantastic ballad that was truly lovely and poetic in every way, there just wasn't a scene for it. I could have thrown it in quickly just to have it, but that's not why he wrote it and not his intention. So I didn't want to cheapen his effort. But, the song is fantastic, and when Frank decides to unleash it on the public, they'll realize it then."

The album will be released December 18, prior to the film’s Christmas day release. The album will include artists Rick Ross and John Legend.
