Good Morning America weather anchor Sam Champion wed his partner Rubem Robierb in New York City Friday.
ABC News confirmed that Robierb, an artist, and Champion wed Friday afternoon in Robierb’s apartment where the two held an intimate ceremony officiated by State Supreme Justice George J. Silver, and surrounded by friends and family. Robierb’s family in Brazil reportedly were there via Skype to witness the beautiful event.
Although the wedding was small, the two plan to celebrate with friends on December 31 in Miami.
Champion did not divulge details into his special day, but he did reveal to Lara Spencer, “The whole family is at the house right now, so I should be able to walk in and have everything [done].”
According to E! News, Champion’s coworker Robin Roberts, who is currently on medical leave after receiving a bone marrow transplant, read a beautiful poem in honor of Champion and Robierb’s union.
Robierb shared his excitement with his followers via Twitter posting a photo of the two men mid-vows.
“Now we a officially married ! @SamChampion,” he wrote.
