Jack Black’s ‘Ghost Ghirls’ comedy heading to Yahoo

By Daniel S Levine,

The Jack Black-produced comedy project Ghost Ghirls is moving to Yahoo, as the company continues to add original content.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series comes from Black’s Electric Dynamite production company and will be produced with Shine America. There will be 12 10-minute episodes. New Girl’s Jake Johnson, Jason Schwartzman, Molly Shannon and Black will make guest appearances. Production wraps up this week.

Jeremy Konner, Amanda Lund and Maria Blasucci created Ghost Ghirls. Lund and Blasucci star as ghostbusters solving paranormal mysteries. Konner directed the episodes.

The project began at SyFy just over a year ago.

Black has high hopes for the series, notes Deadline. He said in a statement, “Ghost Ghirls is the funniest idea for a TV show that we’ve seen since I’ve been in the business...Jeremy Konner is an electrifying director, and Amanda and Maria are dynamite comedic talents.”

Ghost Ghirls will debut at Yahoo! Screen in Spring 2013. Other web series Yahoo has in production include Sketchy and Burning Love.

Shine America president Vivi Zigler told THR that we can expect more web-based content from the company in the future. “We have lots of ideas in development that we're talking to lots of different platforms about. Some are a glean in our eye, some are a pitch that came in weeks ago and some that are further along,” she said.
