Now that there is no question about Jessica Simpson’s second pregnancy, some were wondering about her future with Weight Watchers, since she teamed up with the company to publicize her weight loss following the birth of Maxwell Drew in May. Weight Watchers released a new ad with Simpson today and said that she will be putting the diet on hold during the pregnancy.
Simpson and fiance Eric Johnson made the news official on Christmas day with a photo on Twitter of Maxwell and the words “Big Sis” written in the sand. Shortly after the picture was posted, Weight Watchers responded with a tweet that read, “Congrats to @JessicaSimpson, Eric and big-sister-to-be Maxwell! Your WW family is so thrilled for you. What an amazing year you've had!”
Weight Watchers sent a statement to People, saying that Simpson “will not be following the program during the pregnancy while her weight and well-being are monitored by her obstetrician, as is recommended for any woman during pregnancy.”
It continues, “After she gives birth, Jessica and her doctor will decide when she may resume following the Weight Watchers program.”
Simpson also stars in a new ad for Weight Watchers, which you can view below. “This year is all about new beginnings for me,” she says, notes Access Hollywood. “I lost over 50 pounds on Weight Watchers and did not have to be perfect to do it. Being healthy has become a part of who I am, which is great timing because I’m having another baby...I feel like I’m on top of the world!”
“She has come a long way and we know her story and success will continue to inspire others,” Weight Watchers' Senior Vice President of Marketing Cheryl Callan said in a statement.
