Tim Tebow, the backup quarterback for the New York Jets, called an injured teen, who was recovering from a car accident.
Matt Hardy, a 17 year-old boy from Shenendehowa, survived a car accident that left two other students killed. The driver who hit the car that Hardy was in had failed alcohol tests. Tebow responded to a campaign on Twitter that had gone viral.
According to ESPN, Approximately 7 p.m., #TebowCallMatt was trending on Twitter nationwide. After a certain amount of time 50,000 Twitter users already retweeted the hashtag.
Hardy received a phone call from Tebow sometime after 9 p.m. Following the phone call, Hardy’s brother had tweeted, "TIM TEBOW JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH MATT! SUCH A CLASS ACT!!" Hardy’s brother was obviously very pleased that Tebow had taken the time to actually call his brother. This is a moment that neither of them should forget for a long time.
Hardy, a multisport athlete at his high school, is getting better day-by-day.
According to The Examiner, Tebow had later tweeted, "Thanks to everyone who got #TebowCallMatt trending & helped connect us. Matt truly inspired me. God bless y'all."
