Justin Bieber accused of animal cruelty by California Hamster Association

By Daniel Levine,

Justin Bieber is being accused of animal cruelty, but not by PETA. Instead, the California Hamster Association, which protects the rights of our favorite household rodents, is targeting Bieber for mistreating his pet PAC.

The Believe singer handed PAC over to a screaming fan in Atlanta following a show, telling the extremely excited girl, “That's all you.” Bieber then told her “You gotta take care of PAC,” which she eagerly promised to do. “I will take care of him!” she yells back.

However, even if it was done as a nice gesture to his fan, the CHA is nervous about PAC’s well-being, notes TMZ. The CHA said that hamsters “often succumb quickly to illness and death” when dealt a “sudden environmental change.”

“The moment that hamster was handed off to a screaming girl in a harsh, frenzied environment was likely the moment it gazed at the short path to its doom,” the organization told the site. They suggest that if Bieber really did not want the hamster any more, it would have been better for him to take PAC to an animal shelter or rescue center.

As far as TMZ knows, though, PAC is still safe with the 18-year-old girl. Based on her enthusiasm, CHA should probably be more worried about PAC getting spoiled.

Bieber hasn’t commented on the hamster situation. Instead, he’s busy recording another album.
