ABC is reportedly working on a comedy based on the life of pop star Justin Bieber.
TV Guide first reported Friday that the Disney-owned network started developing the project last season and has been revived as a potential series for next season.
The Believe singer will executive produce along with his manager, Scooter Braun. Writers Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi are also co-executive producing.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project is in the very early stages, with Wolpert and Nedivi only recently getting a script order.
The 2011 version of the project was set up as a multi-camera comedy with a laugh track, but now the single-camera format is being considered.
It is expected to give Bieber’s fans a look at his early life, before he reached international fame with “Baby” and other hits. It will focus on the 18-year-old’s teen years and his unconventional family.
Wolpert and Nedivi’s previous credits include Entourage. Wolpert also worked on My Name Is Earl, while Nedivi worked on Wicked Little Things.
There’s no word on whether or not Bieber will make any appearances on the show, but he certainly does have some TV credentials. He made an appearance on CSI and NBC aired the special Justin Bieber: All Around the World last season. He also guest-hosted MTV’s Punk’d.
