Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet has married Ned Rocknroll, billionaire Richard Branson’s nephew. The two married in a secret ceremony with only a few guests.
“I can confirm that Kate Winslet married Ned Rock'nRoll in NY earlier this month in a private ceremony attended by her two children and a very few friends and family,” Winslet’s rep told People magazine. “The couple had been engaged since the summer.”
While no other details were officially revealed, a source told the U.K.’s Sun that “It was a really romantic, private ceremony.”
Leonardo DiCaprio, who co-starred with Winslet in Titanic and Revolutionary Road, attended to give the bride away at the ceremony in New York.
Winslet’s two children from her previous marriages and just a few close friends were there. Her father, Roger, was surprised when The Sun gave him the news.
“What are you going on about?” Roger said. “It’s not something I know of — but nothing would surprise me with those two.”
The Sun’s sources claim that the wedding was planned far ahead of time and they managed to keep it a secret. “Marriage has always been on the cards and they’ve been talking about doing it for the last couple of months,” a friend said.
Winslet and Rocknroll (which is his legal name) were both on Branson’s Caribbean island in 2011 when a fire broke out and Winslet famously saved the Virgin mogul’s 90-year-old mother.
According to USA Today, Winslet was previously married to Jim Threapleton and Skyfall director Sam Mendes.
Winslet won an Oscar for 2008’s The Reader and recently starred in Contagion. She has a role in the upcoming all-star comedy Movie 43.
