27 Dresses actress Katherine Heigl is the mother of two children and seven dogs. In a new interview, the 34-year-old mom reveals that she wouldn’t recommend that to anyone.
"I really love these dogs, but it's a lot with two little kids,” the actress tells People, jokingly adding, “Yeah, I wouldn't recommend that!”
Heigl already had three dogs, Romeo, Stella and Wheezer and became aware of the unfortunate overpopulation of dogs -- she then opted to adopt, People reports.
"The first dog I rescued was my dog Piper, who is pretty much the most amazing dog on the planet," she explains. "It was a chance thing. I was walking down the street in my neighborhood and there was a woman with these two beautiful puppies that had been rescued from somebody's backyard … I just thought, 'This dog is beautiful, and I can take another dog,' and so I did, and then the train started rolling."
Along with rescuing the adorable dogs, Heigl also works alongside her mother Nancy for the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation in conjunction with Just One, which aims to gain proceeds to help the spay and neuter of pets to decrease euthanizing animals awaiting adoption in shelters.
She adds, “[My mother and I] just felt that we had gotten so much from our pets over the years, how much loyalty and love. They're kind of like my best friends, and I just thought we need to do something to help all of their kind. That was the impetus for Just One."
In addition to her growing family of dogs, Heigl is also mother to daughters Adalaide Marie and Nancy Leigh.
Along with her busy schedule at home, Heigl can also be seen in The Big Wedding, The Nut Job, in which she will voice Andie and Face Blind.
