Ke$ha’s song “Die Young” was pulled from the radio following the tragic shooting in Newtown, Connecticut last Friday and the singer completely understands why.
On the day of the shooting, “Die Young” was at No. 3 on the charts and had about 167 million listeners, but it dropped from there, on Saturday having 164 million listeners and by Monday just 19 million.
The singer took to her Twitter account to comment on it, writing "I understand. I had my very own issue with 'die young' for this reason. I did NOT want to sing those lyrics and I was FORCED TO." She has since taken that tweet down.
She also wrote "I'm so so so sorry for anyone who has been effected by this tragedy and I understand why my song is now inappropriate. words cannot express."
When the tragedy happened on Friday, the pop star immediately tweeted “my heart goes out deeply to the people of Newtown, Connecticut.
She also posted a link to a charity where people can donate to the victims’ families.
